File Open

Opens and loads project files - a new document will be created for each loaded file.

Depending on the installed extension modules, the following file types are supported:

QW-Modeller project for QuickWave: *.QWPro

FreeCAD project: *.FCStd

Alias Mesh: *.obj

Autodesk DWG: *.dwg

Autodesk DXF: *.dxf

BREP: *.brep, *.brp

Binary Mesh: *.bms

Collada: *.dae

Common airfoil data: *.dat

IGES: *.iges, *.igs

Image formats: *.bmp, *.jpg, *.png, *.xpm

Industry Foundation Classes: *.ifc

Inventor V2.1: *.iv

Object File Format Mesh: *.off

Open CAD: *.oca, *.gcad

PLY points: *.ply

Point format: *.asc

Povray format: *.pov, *.inc

File Import

Adds the content of the loaded file to the current (already opened) document. When loading, the file is added to the current (already opened) project.
