1.1.1 Installation

The 64-bit package works on 64 bits systems such as Microsoft Windows 7 x64/8 x64/8.1x64/10 x64 operating systems.

The 32-bit package works on 32 bits systems such as Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 operating systems and also on 64 bits systems such as Microsoft Windows XP x64/Vista x64/7 x64/8 x64/8.1x64/10 x64 operating systems.

Memory requirements are at least 1 GB RAM to conveniently run the included examples. More RAM will be needed for more complicated circuits.

There are three types of installations:

Typical - software will be installed with the most common options. Please note that the additional files necessary for running all examples included in the installation, in the QuickWave 2016 x64 DEMO, will not be installed.
Custom - the user can choose the options to install, up to complete installation.
Complete - software will be installed with all options. Additional files necessary for running all examples included in the installation, in the QuickWave 2016 x64 DEMO, will be installed here.

Disk space requirements depend on the type of installation as follows:

	Typical	Custom (Complete)
QW-Modeller	1.2 GB	2.3 GB

Place the installation DVD in your DVD-ROM drive. After inserting the DVD the setup program should run automatically. Otherwise run setupqwmodeller_v2016x64.exe on the DVD-ROM. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Select Next on the Welcome window to confirm that you wish to continue with the installation.

You will see the End User Licence Agreement dialog.

You will need to read and accept the End User Licence Agreement that is presented. If you accept, check the 'I accept...' radio button and press Next.

During the installation, the user can change the destination folder for QW-Modeller software. For the case when Microsoft Windows operating system is installed on drive C, the default destination directory is <INSTALLDIR> defined as:

C:\Program Files\QWED\QW-Modeller\v2016x64

QW-Modeller Examples, macros, *.ini files and media libraries are installed in the additional QW-Modeller public directory, called <PUBLICDIR>, which contains the path to the QW-Modeller public directory (see .... for more information). For the case when Microsoft Windows operating system is installed on drive C, the QW-Modeller public directory is set as:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\QWED\QW-Modeller\v2016x64 - for Windows XP x64

C:\Users\Public\QWED\QW-Modeller\v2016x64 - for Windows 7 x64/8 x64/8.1 x64/10 x64

The QW-Modeller Examples are installed in the <PUBLICDIR>\examples directory and this information is displayed during installation.

Note that envir, media, macros and examples directories are created only for compatibility and there are no appropriate QW-Modeller files in these folders. They only contain readme.txt file with information about the new location of the files from a particular folder. In the envir folder there is also the text file publicdir.txt, where the path to the public QW-Modeller folder is defined. For the case when Windows operating system is installed on drive C, this file has the following structure:

QW_Public_Dir_Path=C:\Users\Public\QWED\QW-Modeller\v2016x64\

QW-Modeller, QW-Editor and QW-Simulator are looking for the publicdir.txt located in the envir directory. If this file is found, the <PUBLICDIR> variable contains the path to the public QW-Modeller directory read from the file.

In the next step, configure the shortcuts for QW-Modeller v2016 x64:

Then choose Setup Type:

Select the type of installation by pressing on the appropriate button. Note that while the 'Typical' option is suitable for most users, the 'Complete' option ensures that all features are included in the installation at the cost of a relatively small increase of required disk space.

The 'Typical' and 'Complete' options will install QW-Modeller in pre-defined default directories.

If you wish to change the installation directory, or tailor the features that will be installed, select the `Custom' option; the Select Installation Folder dialog will be shown then.

If you are satisfied with the choices made earlier, select Install to continue. Otherwise select Back to review previous options.

During the installation, Windows may request confirmation that you wish to continue with the install process.

Uninstall

You can easily uninstall or reinstall the software in standard Microsoft Windows operating system procedures using Control Panel and Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs) or by clicking "Uninstall QW-Modeller ..." in the Start Menu.
