1.2     Installation

Run the installation file and follow the instructions on the screen. Administrator privileges are required for the installation procedure.

During installation, the user can change the destination folder for QuickWave software. For the case when Microsoft Windows operating system is installed on drive C, the default destination directory is <INSTALLDIR> defined as:

C:\Program Files\QWED\QuickWave Standard 2024 for QuickWave 32-bit version on 32-bit Windows

C:\Program Files (x86)\QWED\QuickWave Standard 2024 for QuickWave 32-bit version on 64-bit Windows

C:\Program Files\QWED\QuickWave Professional 2024 for QuickWave 64-bit version and 64-bit Windows

QW-Examples, *.ini files and media libraries are installed in the additional QuickWave public directory. There is a new QuickWave Variable called <PUBLICDIR>, which contains the path to the QuickWave public directory. For the case when Microsoft Windows operating system is installed on drive C, the QuickWave public directory is setting as:

C:\Users\Public\QWED\QuickWave Professional 2024

For the 32-bit version of QuickWave there will be QuickWave Standard 2024 instead of QuickWave Professional 2024.

The QW-Examples are installed in the <PUBLICDIR>\qw_examp directory and this information is displayed during installation.

Note that name of directory QuickWave Professional 2024 depends on the version of the software (QuickWave Professional 2024 rev1 means 64-bit version 2024 revision 1). The name of directory QuickWave Standard 2024 depends on the version of the software (QuickWave Standard 2024 rev1 means 32-bit version 2024 revision 1).

Note that envir, media and qw_examp directories are created only for compatibility and there are no appropriate QuickWave files in these folders. They only contain readme.txt file with information about the new location of the files from this folder. In the envir folder there is a text file publicdir.txt, where the path to the public QuickWave folder is defined.

For the case when Microsoft Windows operating system is installed on drive C and 64-bit version of QuickWave, this file has the following structure:

[QWPublicDir]

QW_Public_Dir_Path=C:\Users\Public\QWED\QuickWave Professional 2024\

QW-Editor and QW-Simulator are looking for the publicdir.txt located in the envir directory. If this file is found, the <PUBLICDIR> variable contains the path to the public QuickWave directory read from the file.

If publicdir.txt file is not found, the <PUBLICDIR> variable is the same as the <INSTALLDIR> variable. This is the standard situation known from earlier versions of QuickWave, when there was no QuickWave public directory and envir, media and qw_examp sub-directories of <INSTALLDIR> contained the necessary files.

Remember to install the HASP® Device Driver. This is done by using shortcuts from Windows Start Menu or running HASPUserSetup.exe (GUI version) or haspdinst.exe (Command-Line version) available in ..hasp\install directory. The driver does not need to be installed if it has been previously installed on the computer due to the application of other software packages using the HASP® key.

Uninstall
