7.5.6    Coupling with external applications

The parameters sweep, enabled in QuickWave, is a straightforward process when the following simulation results are of user’s interest: scattering parameters in both Sk1 and Smn routines, radiation patterns and results of FD-Probing calculations. For those objectives the built-in mechanism for data processing, as for QW-OptimiserPlus, is used. QuickWave gives the user possibility of performing the parameters sweep also for other, less commonly analysed in this manner, data available from QuickWave simulation, like radiation pattern or power dissipated in the object made of a lossy material. It can be done by taking advantage of an indirect routine. In this routine the user must provide an external program (application) that will read QuickWave files containing the required simulation results, extract an appropriate parameter (the one that is of user’s interest in parameters sweep) and deliver it to QW-Simulator (by creating an output file) as a set of points (or a point, when considering power dissipated in the object). The set of points will create a curve that will be delivered to the user in the Results window.

This indirect routine is also available for optimisation with QW-OptimiserPlus and has been in details exemplified based on the optimisation process discussed in QW-OptimiserPlus: Using Saved Data Objective. Configuring the parameters sweep in the indirect routine is done in a corresponding way, thus the QW-OptimiserPlus: Using Saved Data Objective will help the users to fully understand this functionality and will be a guide through when preparing their own parameters sweep routines.
