Acceleware FDTD Accelerator 400
Quick Install Instructions
2. Installing the Acceleware FDTD Accelerator 400 Card
1. Power down your computer and install the Acceleware FDTD Accelerator in the primary (x16) PCI-Express slot.
Note: Some computer mainboards may have more than one PCI-Express slot. Please ensure that the Accelerator card is installed in the primary (x16) PCI-Express slot.
If you have an existing graphics card in this slot, it will need to be removed.
Important: The Acceleware FDTD Accelerator card requires two auxiliary power connections from the computer’s power supply, in addition to the power supplied by the PCI-Express bus.
You will need to use the supplied Y power cable if your power supply does not come equipped with a PCI-Express power connector (6-pins, 12V and ground). Each of the input connectors on the Y cable should be connected to different braids from the power supply.
2. Connect your monitor, using the supplied adapter if required, to the output indicated (closest to the mainboard) in the figure below.
3. Installing the Acceleware FDTD Accelerator 400 Driver
1. Power on the computer.
Important: Windows will detect the new hardware and start its driver search/installation process. Cancel this process.
2. Run QuickWave 3D/V2D x64 installation using an administrator account. This will install the QuickWave 3D/V2D software and Acceleware FDTD Accelerator Driver. It is recommended to use the default installer settings. Windows will provide a warning that the driver has not been certified for compatibility. Ignore this warning and continue with the installation.
4. Verify System Settings
Right-click on the Desktop and select Properties. On Display Properties, select the "Settings" tab and ensure "color quality" is set to "Highest (32 bit)".
Select the "Advanced" button, then the "Troubleshoot" tab and ensure "Hardware acceleration" is set to full.
